Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 school year at WMMS! I am so excited that you will be a part of my 6th Grade Math class this year! I will serve as your partner in education throughout your 6th grade experience, and what an experience it will be! I hope you are just as excited as I am!

Often, students and parents aren’t only excited, but also somewhat nervous at the beginning of a new school year. I hope to put your nerves at ease. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns by email or telephone (See contact information below).

We hope to make the transition from 5th Grade as smooth as possible, and I hope you’ll agree that the 6th grade team works very hard at this!

Here’s a little scoop on me: In 2002, I earned my Master’s of Education Degree from The Ohio State University, and this will be my 17th year of teaching at West Muskingum! I taught 9 of those years at Hopewell Elementary. This is my 8th year at WMMS, and I love it!

In order to help the students and myself succeed, I set high expectations. The reason I do this is because the higher I set the expectations, the higher our potential will be to reach them. I also continuously raise the expectations throughout the school year so the students and I will have to keep working at achieving them; therefore, increasing our range of success. I also create a classroom setting that is safe, supportive, and organized, which in turn, will enable all of the students to develop confidence, to take risks, to learn to work independently and cooperatively, and to develop social skills. This type of classroom setting will also allow me to observe, support, and meet the learning needs and styles of each student.

I look forward to working with all the students and their families. I welcome and value communication between home and school! It can, and will, make a difference in your child’s educational experience!

I will be here to greet your child every day with a smile!
