AP Biology

View Events/Assignments for

AP Biology is a college level introductory biology course which focuses on the four essential concepts that biology majors usually study during their first two semesters: Evolution, Energy Processes, Information Transfer and Interactions of Biological Systems.  The emphasis of AP Biology is on understanding these concepts and developing critical thinking skills, not simply memorizing terms and facts.  To aid in this process, the laboratory portion of the course entails inquiry-based explorations of these concepts and allows students to practice and develop scientific skills.

AP Biology entails a considerable time commitment and level of independent study for students.  The course is fast-paced, as this course is the equivalent of two-semester college classes.  Students should expect to spend approximately 45 min to one hour each evening doing reading, homework and laboratory reports for AP Biology.  AP Biology is a 1 block class.
