Mr. Fineran was born at Cracker Barrel. Okay, not really, Bethesda Hospital was located where Cracker Barrel is today. He attended Westview, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Zanesville High School. All of these schools wore out and have been torn down or replaced. The Ohio State University, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Comprehensive English, is still standing, as is Muskingum College, where he earned his Master's Degree in Teaching. (They only changed their name.)
Mr. Fineran spent 22 years in wholesale logistics, purchasing, sales, and MIS before entering the classroom. He was Vice President of Purchasing for Integrity Supply, Columbus Ohio, and Purchasing Manager as well as board member of The Roekel Co. Zanesville and a former member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers. He has also been employed in distribution pipeline construction and as a general and electrical construction laborer. He entered the teaching profession at age 45 and has taught at Zanesville City, Tri Valley and West Muskingum. He currently teaches 11th Grade English, Acvanced Placement Literature and Composition, and Mythology.
He is a member of First Christian Church, a Vice President of the Land of Legend Rifle and Pistol Club, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Aircraft Owner's and Pilots Association, the Muskingum Recreation Center, the Thursday Music Club, and the Zanesville Concert Association. Mr. Fineran performs big band jazz on the bass trombone with the Rusty Knights Big Band, The David Schubach Big Band and the Rich Simcox Orchestra. Mr. Fineran also performs in the trombone section of the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band in the Summer and sings bass in the Zanesville Civic Chorus production of Handel's Messiah and occasionally joins the civic chorus chamber singers.
Mr. Fineran holds his private pilot's license and is a certified NASP coach. He enjoys shooting,hunting, reading, cooking, flying, sailing, motorcycling, gardening, auto repair and restoration, old tractors, reloading and shooting. His family has a farm for recreational purposes and he is currently restoring a 1965 Airstream travel trailer.
Mr. Fineran has been married over 35 years and has two grown daughters, Kelly, a school administrator, and Stacey, an environmental biologist, currently attending University of Hawaii Law School. Mr. Fineran's lifestyle is made possible by his wife, Beth, a Family Nurse Practitioner with Muskingum Valley Health Care in Zanesville.
Mr. Fineran believes that you only get better at reading and writing by reading and writing. Enough said.
