Genesis Trauma Services Provides Critical Training

Kit Presentation

Members of the Genesis Trauma Services recently provided training to West Muskingum staff on the National Stop the Bleed Curriculum. The training is to help staff be better prepared for an individual with severe bleeding, which could include mass casualty situations.

Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Stop the Bleed kits were presented to the schools with funds provided by the Muskingum County Commissioners and the Genesis Healthcare Foundation. On hand for the presentation were (l to r):  Kara Nicholson, trauma services; Rebecca Geyer, trauma services; Superintendent Chad Shawger; Jane Kilgore, trauma services; Bryan Karling, director of Special Services; and Joel Dickinson, trauma services.

More information on Stop the Bleed can be found at www.dhs.gov/stopthebleed.
